I've lived in Escondido for over 12 years and I have never gone to the sandwich place but lately acquaintances as well as good friends we're bragging about it and how you can't go wrong if you order from Russo so today I decided to order and from the very beginning it went very well I was waited on by a gentleman named Mike, he was extremely helpful knowledgeable about each sandwich and also told me how they make their meatballs and their sauce right there. He told me what was the biggest summer and there was an a question that I asked that he could not answer. The one I ordered was the supper submarine and it was super, very tasty and the portions were generous. The store although was older, it was clean. The area where they put together the sandwich was also clean from what I could see but also organized. The staff was extremely friendly and left like they have a couple regulars because when someone came in, they were able to call them by name, which is always impressive. Anyone, especially the person getting the sandwich I too will definitely be recommending this place to my friends and associates and no, you will not go wrong if you come to a cruise to eat. I would call this a hidden gem and will be coming again soon thank you Mike for starting out my first visit on such a happy note.

Agrusa's Super Sandwiches is the bomb. Tucked away in a less-than-glamorous part of town, right next to a tattoo shop, it's the kind of place that doesn't look like much but serves up the best sandwiches in the area. I'm a fan of their Agrusa's Original or the tuna, both of which are always made to perfection. They toast the bread and melt the cheese right into it, then load it up with all the tasty toppings. A half foot long usually costs me around $9, which is a great deal for the quality. The service is fast and efficient, almost like an assembly line, so I recommend calling in your order ahead of time so it's ready when you arrive. Just a heads up, there's no place to eat or wait inside, so it's all about grab and go.

Friendly gentleman taking order reasonable prices delicious sandwiches. Only knock is their original was a bit messy but tasty. If in the area will order again.

Anytime anyone asks for a deli recommendation I always suggest Agrusa's. I have eaten here since I was a child and it somehow tastes exactly the same to this day. Delicious. The "Agrusa's super submarine" is the route to go. Though, I do like their pastrami, tuna, and mortadella. The service is always great. It's a quaint, laid back shop where ya order and take your food to go. I've spoken to an owner of another very popular deli who he himself admitted, Agrusa's is top tier and the best of the best. I think that says something. 10/10.

I cannot believe I was 43 years old when I finally tried this iconic sandwich shop in Escondido. Being born and raised here I remember always driving past this place and seeing the painting of a girl and boy eating a sandwich. My parents never had taken us here. Wish they had. Actually when I mentioned about my incredible sandwich to my dad he replied, " I'm not sure why I never went there, that place was around even when I was a kid." Well a week ago I decided let's try this place during my visit back home. And my God I'm so happy I did. Our sandwich was so incredible and delicious. The staff was amazing and helpful. When I told them I was gonna save half of our sandwich for our road trip they said they would put dressings and such on the side so the sandwich would last longer. This place will now be a sure stop to add to my favorite places to eat at when I'm home visiting. People stop here if you never have. Get the Agrusa's Original Sandwich if it's your first time here. I really enjoyed this location a lot. We went in for some sandwiches and the staff was very friendly and very informative. There is no room to sit and eat, but that is fine as well. The menu had quite a few options besides sandwiches as well. We ordered a meatball sandwich and a pastrami. They come in 8 or 16 inches. I actually got a few meals out of the 16-inch meatball sandwich, so that was good. Their bread is perfect; not too crunchy and not soggy. It added to the flavorful meatballs (and pastrami) so that was nice too. We also got a pickle that they split in four so we could share. Really tasty. For a great sandwich made by nice people, this is the place!

I grew up in a small town that had some awesome sandwiches called "torpedos" and when the owner died and sold the place; we no longer had those sandwiches. Until now- I found Agrusa's! Ordered the submarine sandwich and wowza! Spot on delicious! I do recommend calling in to pick up because when I've been, there's a line and they get busy. But because ppl know how good this place is! I do need to try other sandwiches but I did have some pasta salad which was good. Not anything fancy but good. The prices are good for what you get. And the bread. Omg- perfectly freshly baked and it has the perfect toasted crunch to it. If I could eat here daily, and not get fat, I would!! The staff are quick and nice to help you. No complaints here!

My first visit to this small, unassuming sandwich shop. I ordered the Agrusa Special, that is an Italian style toasted sub. It comes with mortadella and a few other deli meats. Absolutely delicious. The bread they make on site really makes the sandwich over the top. Basically every 8" sandwich is $8.20, the 16" sandwiches are just double the price. Will definitely return!

Soooooo good. A friend was raving about this place so had to try it. All the ingredients were so fresh! My new go to sandwich spot.
